Dante Alighieri  60x40 - 2023

In commemoration of the anniversary of Dante's death 700 years ago, the Dante Festival started in Düsseldorf, Germany, which is also the reason for the foundation of a new Dante Alighieri Society. It will continue until tomorrow 16 September. The festival includes an in-depth look at Dante's life and literary masterpieces.
Opening these splendid days was Simona Santini, an award-winning Italian pianist from Ravenna, with Franz Liszt's 'Fantasia quasi Sonata "Après une lecture de Dante"'.
To give the Festival a final touch, a large handmade mosaic was provided by me, I too am a native of Ravenna, but have lived in Germany for many years.
The mosaic refers to a portrait that Sandro Botticelli painted around 1495 post mortem of Dante.
The new headquarters of the Dante Alighieri Society in Düsseldorf was founded in 2023 by director Beatrice Santini (in collaboration with numerous other Italian and German people), and is aimed at all those who love the Italian language and the various aspects of this culture, from art to cinema, literature and food.
